I’m a Gainesville girl who embraces nature, love, and all that life has to offer.
I was born in the gator nation on October 28, 1994.
I grew up in Ocala, and know central Florida like the back of my hand.
I went to Vanguard High School and became involved with the yearbook staff; I took photos, wrote blurbs and designed pages.
I also took three years of drama, which I thoroughly enjoyed and am currently minoring in at UF.
After graduating high school with high honors, I went to the College of Central Florida to earn my Associate’s degree in Mass Communications.
While there, I became deeply involved with the honor society. I also began working with the award-winning student paper there, The Patriot Press, and I would say this is where my career really kicked off and my decision to be a journalist became absolute.
After working as a staff member, I rose to Photography Editor and finally, Co-Editor-in-Chief.
As a team, we went to award banquets in other cities like Boca Raton, and engaged with other colleges around Florida.
I graduated in May 2015.
I was accepted to the University of Florida and began my junior year there in August 2015.
I am currently involved with numerous publications in the Alachua County area.
This blog will focus on all things photo-journalistic.
You will most likely see me with a camera, a pad of paper and a pen wherever I go.
I hope you enjoy the site and are able to gain some insight into my university life as a journalistic twenty-something, dreaming to make it big in the journalist world.
Yours truly, Raina
